About Us:
Jane Evans, Manager and General Animal Care Giver
My love for wool began with my hand spinning experiences. I raised Angora
rabbits for show in my basement of our home in Columbus, Ohio, but after
learning to spin, I really found I preferred to spin wool from sheep rather
than angora from rabbits. After buying many fleeces and learning to process
them myself for spinning, I began to dream of raising my own sheep someday.
This dream became a reality in 2000 when my husband, Bob, and I bought
a wonderful 57 acre farm near Zanesville, Ohio. I immediately got my starter
flock of a Lincoln/Corriedale ram and 5 ewes of mixed Corriedale, Border
Leicester and Cheviot breeds. The next year I got some registered Coopworths
because I love their lofty, soft wool. My mixed breed sheep are still
some of my favorites and are selected for their long, fine wool that is
perfect for hand spinning. I have white and natural colored sheep, from
light gray to black. Their fleeces have won blue ribbons in state and
county fair competitions. Many are for sale in the raw state or processed
into roving.
My colored Angora rabbits in shades from charcoal gray to champagne, produce
fine mohair for spinning or blending with wool. These are also available
processed into roving. Llama and alpaca roving is also for sale. Lambs
will be ready to wean in the summer and some yearling ewes are available
now. For our personal use, we also have dairy goats and chickens, so I
am a busy person all year long, but still find time for spinning and knitting
and weaving. Some hand made items and hand spun wool is for sale. Please
check each category for what is available, or feel free to contact me
anytime.
